Emergency Services Respond to a Serious Collision in Waterloo

Waterloo Regional Police have laid charges in a collision involving a cyclist and pickup truck in Waterloo.
On March 24, 2026, at approximately 8:40 a.m., emergency services responded to reports of a collision at the intersection of University Avenue East and Woolwich Street. The collision involved a Toyota pickup truck and a 12-year-old cyclist.
The driver of the Toyota, a 46-year-old male from Waterloo, was not injured. The cyclist was transported to a local hospital with serious but non‑life‑threatening physical injuries.
As a result of the investigation, the Toyota driver was charged with turn-not in safety and object obstructing view under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
The parents of the cyclist were issued a Provincial Offence Notice for allowing a person under 16 to drive a bicycle without a proper helmet.
