Police Arrest Male after Robbery with a Firearm in Kitchener

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a wanted male after a robbery involving a firearm at a Kitchener business.

On November 27, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., police responded to a business in the area of Fischer-Hallman Road and Ottawa Street South for a report of a robbery.

A male suspect attended the business, selected merchandise, and attempted to leave the store without paying. When approached by a staff member, the male pushed the employee out of the way, displayed a firearm, and continued to exit the store. The male also pointed the gun at and threatened a customer who attempted to intervene. The male fled the area on foot.

A short time later, members of WRPS’ Central Neighbourhood Patrol and Emergency Response Team located the suspect near Highway 8 and placed him under arrest. The stolen items and BB gun were located during the search of the area.

Further investigation determined that the male was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants with WRPS, Peel Regional Police, and the Ontario Provincial Police.

As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old male has been charged with robbery with a firearm, point firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, breach of a probation order, and failure to comply with a release order.

There were no reports of any physical injuries.

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
