Police Arrest Male and Seize Replica Firearm after Waterloo Disturbance
Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male and seized a replica firearm after responding to a disturbance in Waterloo.
On November 6, 2024, at approximately 12 p.m., police responded to a residence on Churchill Street after receiving a report of a firearm being brandished during a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers arrested a male wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to appear for court and breach of recognizance. During the arrest, suspected fentanyl was located in the possession of the male.
A search warrant was completed at the residence, and a replica handgun was located and seized.
As a result of the investigation, the male, a 43-year-old from Waterloo, was charged with several offences, including:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of stolen property under $5,000
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Failure to comply with release order
- Possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order
The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
