Police Arrest Male Following Theft of Ceremonial Gong in Kitchener

Waterloo Regional Police have located the stolen ceremonial gong as a result of an ongoing investigation in Kitchener.
On May 5, 2026, police located the gong in the area of Victoria Street North and Weber Street West.
The gong has been returned to the Cancer Centre at Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) at Midtown hospital. A 44-year-old male has been arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000.

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male following a theft in Kitchener.
On May 4, 2026, police received a report of a theft from the Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) at Midtown hospital located on King Street West.
Through the investigation, it was determined that on April 25, 2026, at approximately 10:50 p.m., a male suspect stole the ceremonial gong from the Cancer Centre.
As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old male has been arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
The gong has not been recovered, and its whereabouts remain unknown.
