Police Arrest Three Males after Attempted Robbery in Kitchener
Waterloo Regional Police have arrested three males after an attempted robbery at a Kitchener mall.
On June 24, 2024, at approximately 8:15 p.m., police responded to a report of three suspicious males in Fairview Park Mall. The males entered the mall carrying duffel bags, proceeded to two stores, and finding them closed, left the mall.
As the males exited the mall, officers from WRPS’ Central Division and Canine Team arrived and placed two of the males under arrest. The third male fled, and after a brief foot pursuit, was arrested a short distance away.
Sledgehammers were seized from the duffel bags carried by the arrested males.
There were no physical injuries as a result of this incident.
As a result of the investigation, two 18-year-old males and a 24-year-old male, all from Toronto, have been charged with attempted robbery (two counts), possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and disguise with intent.
The accused parties were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
