Police Arrest Three Males after Theft of a Vehicle and a Break-and-Enter in Waterloo
Waterloo Regional Police have charged three people after the theft of a motor vehicle and a break-and-enter in Waterloo.
On September 26, 2024, at approximately 7 a.m., a Honda Civic was stolen by a male from the parking lot of a business in the area of Weber Street North and King Street North.
The male suspect then drove to a business in the area of Weber Street North and Farmers Market Road in Woolwich Township and stole merchandise. The male then fled the area in the stolen Honda.
On September 27, 2024, just after midnight, police received information that the stolen vehicle was in the area of Avens Street in Waterloo. Officers responded to the area, located two males in the stolen car, and placed them under arrest.
A short time later, police received a report of a break-and-enter in progress at a residence on Balsam Poplar Drive, a short distance from where the stolen vehicle was located.
Officers from WRPS’ Direct Action Response Team located and arrested a male walking away from the residence carrying stolen property. The male was determined to be the suspect from the vehicle theft on September 26th.
As a result of the investigation, the two males arrested in the stolen Honda, a 53-year-old and a 40-year-old from Kitchener, were charged with Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000. They are scheduled to appear in court in November 2024.
The other male, a 42-year-old, was charged with several offences, including:
- Theft over $5,000
- Operation of a conveyance while prohibited
- Theft under $5,000
- Break, Enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence
- Possession of Break and Enter Tools
- Possession of Schedule I Substance
He was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
