Police Arrest Youths in Connection to Two Person-on-Person Robberies in Waterloo
Police have arrested two youths after two person-on-person robberies in Waterloo.
On June 5, 2024, at approximately 1:20 p.m., police responded to a report of a person-on-person robbery at the ION light rail transit stop near Ring Road and William Tutte Lane.
Through investigation, it was determined that the victim was accosted by two males who threatened him, uttered racial slurs towards him, and assaulted him while trying to steal his property.
The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., police received a report of another person-on-person robbery at Conestoga Mall. The victim was approached by two males who used force to steal his personal property.
The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.
At approximately 2:10 p.m., officers located and arrested one of the involved males.
Subsequent investigation led to the identification and arrest of the second male on June 6, 2024, at approximately 8 a.m.
The two males, a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old, both from Kitchener, were charged with:
- Robbery (two counts)
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death
Both accused parties were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
