Police Complete Weapons Investigation in Kitchener
Waterloo Regional Police have completed a weapons investigation in Kitchener.
On June 5, 2024, at approximately 9:10 a.m., officers responded to a report of a male with a shotgun walking in the area of Old Carriage Drive and Homer Watson Boulevard.
Area roadways and trails were closed, and several area schools were placed into hold and secure/lockdowns as a precaution during the police response, which included officers from WRPS’ Central Division, North Division, Direct Action Response Team, Community Engagement Unit, General investigation Unit, and Emergency Response Team.
Through investigation, officers identified and located the male suspect and arrested him for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Subsequent investigation determined that the involved weapon was a pellet gun and that the male was using it on his property. It was further determined that no criminal offence had occurred.
