Police Investigating Armed Robbery in Cambridge

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police Service's Robbery Team have arrested a male in connection to three robberies in Cambridge.

On May 27, 2024, police responded to reports of a bank robbery in the area of Dundas Street North and Main Street. A male suspect entered the bank, brandished a firearm, and stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing on foot. There were no physical injuries reported as a result of this incident.

On July 16, 2024, police responded to reports of a robbery at a retail store on King Street East. The same male suspect entered the store, brandished a knife and demanded cash and merchandise. Then male then exited the store and fled the area. An employee received non-life-threatening physical injuries as a result of the incident.

On July 26, 2024, police responded to reports of a bank robbery in the area of Jamieson Parkway. The same male suspect entered the bank, brandished a firearm and attempted to steal cash. The male was unsuccessful, exited the bank and fled in a waiting getaway vehicle.

On July 27, 2024, police completed a search warrant at a residence on Lindon Drive and seized evidence in relation to the three robberies. A replica firearm was also located and seized.

As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old Cambridge male was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Conspiracy to commit indictable offence
  • Point firearm
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Robbery with a firearm (two counts)
  • Disguise with intent (three counts)

The male was held for a bail hearing.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police Service's Robbery Team is investigating a robbery at a financial institution in Cambridge. 

On May 27, 2024, at approximately 2:20 p.m., police responded to reports of a bank robbery in the area of Dundas Street North and Main Street. 

A male suspect entered the bank, brandished a firearm, and stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing on foot. He was last seen walking south on Dundas Street North towards Main Street.

The suspect is described as a white male, 40–45 years old, with a thin build, wearing black clothes, a dark baseball hat, and black sunglasses. The male walked with a noticeable limp. 

No physical injuries were sustained as a result of this incident.
