Police Investigating Two Jewelry Swap Incidents in Kitchener
Waterloo Regional Police Service is investigating two separate incidents involving suspicious jewelry swap attempts in the City of Kitchener.
On October 17, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., police responded to the area of Oprington Drive and Benesfort Drive after receiving a report of an attempted jewelry swap. A victim was approached by a motor vehicle occupied by three individuals who attempted to place jewelry on the victim. The victim declined, and the individuals left the area prior to police arrival. No injuries were reported.
Later that day, at approximately 3:20 p.m., police responded to a second incident near Margaret Avenue and Fairfield Avenue. In this case, a victim was approached by a motor vehicle occupied by two individuals. The suspects placed jewelry on the victim while simultaneously removing the victim’s own jewelry. The individuals fled the area in their vehicle before police arrived. No injuries were reported.
Investigators are working to identify the individuals involved in both incidents, and if the two are connected.
