Safe Semester and Homecoming Enforcement Leads to Hundreds of Charges in Waterloo
Waterloo Regional Police issued over 750 charges during Project Safe Semester.
Running from August 28, 2025, to September 26, 2025, this campaign aims to promote the safety and well-being of university and college students.
The types and numbers of charges laid included the following:

During Homecoming-related events, Waterloo Regional Police laid an additional 104 charges, including:
31 Liquor Licence Control Act offences
60 Highway Traffic Act offences
4 Criminal Code offences
A total of 104 Homecoming-related charges were laid by WRPS. This represents a 3% increase from 2024, when 101 charges were laid.
Although Project Safe Semester has concluded, Waterloo Regional Police will continue to conduct proactive enforcement in the university district and school zones to ensure everyone's safety.
