Waterloo Regional Police Arrest Male Following Vehicle Theft and Break-and-Enter Investigation
Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male following a vehicle theft and break-and-enter investigation.
On October 22, 2025, at approximately 3:10 p.m., police responded to a report of a 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 stolen from a residence in the Laurentian West area of Kitchener. Credit cards inside the stolen truck were subsequently used at several locations throughout Waterloo Region.
While investigating the vehicle theft, at approximately 6:15 p.m., police received a report of an in-progress residential break-in involving the stolen Ram in the area of Old Country Drive and Strasburg Road.
Officers responded to the area and located the stolen vehicle travelling northbound on Strasburg Road. The vehicle then fled from police at a high rate of speed.
At approximately 7:45 p.m., located and disabled the stolen truck in Elmira.
After the vehicle was disabled, the male driver attempted to flee on foot. Officers from WRPS’ Neighbourhood Policing and Emergency Response Team, Guelph Police Service’s Canine Unit, and the Ontario Provincial Police conducted a search and located and arrested the male.
As part of the investigation, officers seized identity documents, break-in tools, and drugs.
As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Kitchener male has been charged with several criminal offences, including:
- Possession of Stolen Property Over $5,000
- Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000
- Possession of an Identity Document
- Break and Enter – Commit Theft
- Possession of Break and Enter Instruments
- Possession of Schedule I Substance (three counts)
- Operation While Prohibited
- Dangerous Operation
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are anticipated.
