Waterloo Regional Police Conclude 2025 Festive RIDE Campaign
Waterloo Regional Police have concluded their annual Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign, which ran from November 20, 2025, to January 1, 2026, across Waterloo Region.
The campaign aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving and ensure motorists were driving sober during the holiday season.
Over the course of the campaign, officers conducted RIDE programs and mobile checks throughout the Region, stopping and checking approximately 10,600 vehicles.
As a result, police laid multiple charges, including:
- Six impaired-related charges (three impaired by alcohol and three over 80 charges)
- Four three-day suspensions
- 43 Highway Traffic Act charges
- Four Liquor Licence and Control Act charges
“Driving impaired is a choice that puts lives at risk,” said Staff Sergeant Scott Griffiths of WRPS’ Traffic Services Unit. “While we are encouraged by the many drivers making responsible decisions, we will continue to focus on enforcement and education to prevent tragedies on our roads.”
The Waterloo Regional Police Service reminds motorists that all young, novice, and commercial drivers must have no alcohol or drugs in their system while driving.
Plan ahead and arrange for a safe ride home. If you observe or suspect a motorist is driving impaired, call 9-1-1 immediately.
