Waterloo Regional Police Investigating Attempted Break-and-Enter in Waterloo
Waterloo Regional Police are investigating an attempted residential break-and-enter in Waterloo.
On April 6, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m., unknown suspects attempted to force entry into a residence on Dogwood Lane. Police learned that the suspects attempted to break a door to gain access; however, no entry was made.
Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Break and Enter, Auto Theft, and Robbery (BEAR) Unit are continuing to investigate.
Investigators are asking residents in the area of Dogwood Lane, Martindale Crescent, Toll Gate Boulevard, and Highpoint Avenue to review home security or dash camera footage from April 6, 2026, 10:30 p.m. until April 7, 2026, 12 a.m., and report anything suspicious to police.
To help reduce the risk of break-ins, police recommend residents:
- Keep doors and windows locked, even while at home
- Keep valuables out of common areas and out of plain sight
- Install audible alarm systems and motion-activated lighting
- Use home video surveillance at the front and rear of residences
- Notify neighbours when away for an extended period and arrange checks
- Report suspicious persons or vehicles to police promptly
