Waterloo Regional Police Investigating Hit-and-Run in New Hamburg
UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:
Waterloo Regional Police have charged a driver in connection to a pedestrian collision in Wilmot Township.
On November 12, 2025, at approximately 5:50 p.m., a 13-year-old pedestrian was crossing Union Street near Huron Street in New Hamburg when struck by a white vehicle turning from Huron Street onto Union Street. The vehicle did not stop and left the area.
The involved driver subsequently contacted police after seeing the news and realizing she may have been involved in the collision.
As a result of the investigation, a 69-year-old female from Wilmot Township has been charged with Careless Driving under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

The pedestrian was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening physical injuries.
The suspect vehicle is believed to be a white sedan or SUV and may have front-end damage or a damaged side mirror.
