Waterloo Regional Police Service Board and Waterloo Regional Police Association Ratify Contract
The Waterloo Regional Police Service Board (WRPSB) and the Waterloo Regional Police Association (WRPA) are pleased to announce the successful ratification of new five-year collective agreements for Uniform and Civilian members, effective from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2029.
The agreements were ratified by the WRPA membership and the WRPSB following a period of negotiations that commenced in January 2025 and concluded with a tentative agreement on April 7, 2025.
Key features of the new collective agreements include:
- Cost of Living Adjustments applied over the five-year term that are consistent with broader industry trends and economic considerations
- Adjustments to health and wellness benefits that will balance competitive provisions for members with responsible cost management
- Agreements that address allowances, premiums, and modernization of existing language
"These collective agreements recognize the significant contributions and sacrifices our members make every day for the safety and wellbeing of Waterloo Region," said Mark Egers, President of the WRPA. "Securing responsible compensation and benefits that support our members and acknowledge the community's investment in quality policing was crucial, and we believe these agreements achieve that balance."
"The Board is very pleased to announce the successful ratification of these collective agreements," said Ian McLean, Chair of the WRPSB. "These agreements provide necessary flexibility while respecting our financial responsibilities and ensuring competitive compensation to attract and retain the best for Waterloo Region."
"I commend the hard work and dedication of the bargaining teams from both the WRPA and the WRPSB who worked diligently to finalize these agreements," said Mark Crowell, Chief of the Waterloo Regional Police Service. "These collective agreements recognize the vital contributions of our Uniform and Civilian members, ensuring the stability needed to continue delivering exceptional policing services that meet the evolving needs of our community."
