WRPS Arrest Kitchener Male For Impaired Charges After Collision with Police Vehicle
Waterloo Regional Police have charged a male with impaired driving after a collision involving a police vehicle in Kitchener.
On August 16, 2024, at approximately 12:20 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police officers were conducting traffic direction as part of road construction on Fairway Road South in Kitchener when a white Honda rear-ended a police cruiser. The occupied police cruiser was parked at the time and had its emergency lights activated.
Through investigation, officers determined that the driver of the Honda was impaired by alcohol and placed him under arrest.
The driver, a 32-year-old Kitchener male, was charged with several offences, including:
- Operation While Impaired
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration
- Dangerous Operation
- Owner Operate Motor Vehicle – No Insurance
The involved officer sustained minor physical injuries.
