WRPS Continue to Investigate after Memorial Plaques Stolen in Cambridge
UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:
Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male after an ongoing investigation into several stolen memorial plaques in Cambridge.
On October 30, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., employees of a local business turned over several metal memorial plaques they believed to be stolen to officers at WRPS’ Neighbourhood Policing Division.
Police began an investigation and determined that the seven copper memorial plaques had been previously stolen off of benches at Victoria Park Tennis Club in West Galt.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, on November 13, 2024, a 52-year-old Kitchener male was arrested in Cambridge. Officers seized an additional stolen plaque belonging to the City of Kitchener that the male had in his possession.
The accused was charged with the following:
- Possession of stolen property under $5,000 (two counts)
- Trafficking in stolen goods under $5,000

The stolen plaques have been returned to the City of Cambridge.
The investigation remains ongoing.
