WRPS' General Investigations Unit Investigating Stabbing in Kitchener

Police have arrested a Kitchener male after a stabbing incident in Kitchener.

On July 6, 2025, at approximately 1:25 p.m., police responded to reports of a stabbing in the area of Victoria Street North and Frederick Street.  

The victim, a 49-year-old Kitchener male, was transported to an out-of-region hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

On July 7, 2025, police located and arrested a 38-year-old male as a result of the investigation.  

The accused has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. 

The accused is currently being held for a bail hearing.

Police are continuing to search for a male suspect after a stabbing in Kitchener. 

On July 6, 2025, at approximately 1:25 p.m., police responded to reports of a stabbing in the area of Victoria Street North and Frederick Street.  

The victim, a 49-year-old Kitchener male, was transported to an out-of-region hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  

The suspect, Joshua Finnamore, 38, is described as a white male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and sneakers.

Investigators believe this was a targeted incident, and the victim and suspect are known to each other.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Joshua Finnamore, who was last seen on July 6th, 2025, in the area of Victoria Street North.

A Canada Wide Warrant has been issued for Joshua Finnamore’s arrest. 

Mr. Finnamore is considered armed and dangerous, and police are asking the public to call 9-1-1 immediately and to not approach him if observed.

The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ Major Crime Unit.

Investigators believe this was an isolated incident, and the victim and suspect are known to each other. 

The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ General Investigations Unit.
