WRPS Investigating Reports of Harassing Drone in Township of North Dumfries

The Waterloo Regional Police Service has completed an investigation into suspicious drone activity that was reported in North Dumfries Township last month.
On August 23, 2024, police responded to a report of a drone flying over residences in the area of Stanley Street and Main Street in Ayr. It was alleged that the drone was dropping an unknown substance on to residential properties.
An investigation was completed with the assistance of the University of Guelph. It has since been determined that the substance was feces from a heron and no criminal activity had occurred.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are investigating harassment and mischief involving a drone in North Dumfries Township.
On August 23, 2024, Waterloo Regional Police began an investigation after receiving multiple reports of a drone engaging in harassing behaviour and causing property damage in the area of Stanley Street and Main Street in Ayr.
On several occasions, a drone, believed to be a first-person view (FPV) drone, has been operated between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., flying over residential homes and dropping an unknown substance onto houses, vehicles, and property.
Investigators are asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed the drone flying or anyone operating a drone in the area to contact police at 519-570-9777, extension 2299.
