UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested Habiton Solomon on a Canada-wide warrant in Hamilton.

On June 4, 2024, Mr. Solomon was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder.

The accused remains in custody and will appear in Kitchener’s Ontario Court of Justice on June 19, 2024.

Habiton Solomon, who is wanted by the Waterloo Regional Police Service on a Canada-wide warrant for Second Degree Murder, has been arrested.

Members of the Hamilton Police Service arrested Mr. Solomon on unrelated charges on May 31, 2024, in Hamilton.

On April 23, 2024, a reward of up to $50,000 was offered by the Bolo Program, in cooperation with Waterloo Regional Crime Stoppers, for information leading to Mr. Solomon’s arrest.

Mr. Solomon was named as one of Bolo’s Top 25 most wanted fugitives for his role in a Kitchener homicide that occurred on August 13, 2023. Police responded to reports of shots fired outside a business in the area of Queen Street and Charles Street and, upon arrival, located an 18-year-old male with injuries sustained from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Two other individuals, a 25-year-old male and a 19-year-old male, both from Hamilton, have been charged with Manslaughter in connection to this homicide.

Mr. Soloman was also wanted in connection to a shooting in Hamilton that occurred on July 22, 2023. No one was injured in this incident.

Waterloo Regional Police Service's Major Crime Unit has charged a third male in connection to an August 13, 2023 homicide in Kitchener.

On October 5, 2023, police charged a third individual, a 25-year-old male from Hamilton, with Manslaughter. Another male, a 19-year-old from Hamilton, was previously charged with Manslaughter on September 27, 2023.

Investigators are continuing to seek Habiton Solomon, 20, from Hamilton, on a Canada-wide warrant for Second Degree Murder.

Mr. Solomon is considered armed and dangerous. If seen, please do not approach him but call 9-1-1 immediately.

Members of Waterloo Regional Police Service's Major Crime Unit have arrested a male in connection to an August 13, 2023 homicide in Kitchener.

On September 27, 2023, a 19-year-old Hamilton male was arrested and charged with Manslaughter. The male was held for a bail hearing. 

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for another suspect, Habiton Solomon, 20, from Hamilton.

Mr. Solomon is described as 5’8”, 130 pounds, with a thin build, black hair, and brown eyes.

Mr. Solomon is wanted for Second Degree Murder and is considered armed and dangerous. If seen, please do not approach him but call 9-1-1 immediately.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests and charges are anticipated.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – WRPS investigators are appealing for witnesses in a Kitchener homicide.

On August 13, 2023, an 18-year-old Kitchener male died after being shot outside a business in the area of Queen Street South and Charles Street. The suspect in this incident remains outstanding.

The suspect is described as a Black male, wearing a baseball hat, a two-toned (light-dark) hooded jacket, dark pants, and white shoes. He arrived in the area of the shooting on a white motorized scooter.

Investigators believe that this homicide was directly witnessed by approximately 10 individuals. Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service are continuing to investigate a homicide that occurred on August 13, 2023, in Kitchener.

At approximately 10:20 p.m., police responded to the area of Queen Street South and Charles Street after receiving reports of shots fired outside a business.  

An 18-year-old male was located with injuries from gunshot wounds and was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

The suspect in this homicide is described as a slim Black male, wearing white and black shoes, black pants, a dark jacket with the hood up and a lighter shirt underneath, and a baseball hat. He is known to frequent the plaza located at 91 Queen Street South in Kitchener.

The suspect was last seen running on Queen Street South towards Joseph Street.

The investigation is ongoing by members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Major Crimes Unit, General Investigations Unit, and Forensic Identification Unit.

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a homicide in downtown Kitchener. 

On August 13, 2023, at approximately 10:20 pm, police responded to the area of Queen Street South and Charles Street after receiving reports of shots fired outside a business.  

Upon arrival, police located an 18-year-old Kitchener male with injuries sustained from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. 

The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5’10”, with a thin build, wearing jeans, a dark sweatshirt with a hood cinched tightly around his face, and a surgical mask. He was last seen fleeing the Queen and Charles Street area on foot.

Investigators believe this to be a targeted incident. The suspect may be armed. If seen, do not approach, but call 9-1-1 immediately.

The investigation is ongoing by members of our Major Crime Unit, General Investigations Unit, and Forensic Identification Unit.

Our Major Crime Unit continues to follow up on investigative leads, and further updates will be provided when available. 

There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area as police conduct a canvass of the neighbourhood for witnesses and information.
