Waterloo Regional Police Continue to Investigate an Armed Robbery in North Dumfries Township

Waterloo Regional Police’s General Investigations Unit is currently investigating an armed robbery in North Dumfries Township.

On August 22, 2024, police responded to the area of Cheese Factory Road and Waynco Road for a report of a robbery involving a firearm.

The victim attended the region to purchase a vehicle posted online. The victim met with an unknown male in a residential area.

The two attended a second location where a second male was picked up. The victim was threatened with a firearm and had personal items and cash stolen. The victim was released, and the suspects left the area in the vehicle.

There are no reports of any physical injuries.

The two males are described as Middle Eastern, 30 to 40 years of age, wearing black ball caps, and one with a medical mask. The vehicle is described as a four-door grey sedan.

Investigators are asking anyone in the area between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. who may have witnessed the incident or have dash camera footage to please contact Waterloo Regional Police Service at 519-570-9777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Police would like to encourage the public when meeting for online sales to use one of the WRPS Safe Buy and Sell Exchange Zones located at each WRPS division. If you are unable to attend an Exchange Zone, consider using a busy public location.
