Waterloo Regional Police Respond to Flag with Offensive Symbols in Kitchener
Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Neighbourhood Policing Patrol, with support from our Investigative Services Division, are investigating after responding to the area of Stirling Avenue South and Cherry Street in Kitchener for reports of a residence displaying a flag with offensive symbols.
Members of our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Unit have been in dialogue with members of the community who have been impacted by the symbols displayed on the flag.
While individuals have the right to freedom of expression under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, offensive expression, rooted in hate, have no place in n Waterloo Region.
