WRPS Continuing to Investigate a Shooting in Cambridge

Waterloo Region, Ontario  Waterloo Regional Police have arrested three youths in connection to a shooting in Cambridge.

On August 18, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., three individuals met with the victim in Cambridge and got into his car. An altercation occurred, resulting in the victim being shot. The vehicle was subsequently driven off the roadway and into the Grand River. The three suspects escaped the partially submerged car, leaving the victim behind.

The victim was able to exit the vehicle and call for help. Emergency services responded, and the victim was transported to hospital with injuries determined to be from a gunshot. 

On August 21, 2024, the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Robbery Team identified and arrested a 17-year-old male, a 14-year-old female, and a 12-year-old female, all from Kitchener. Search warrants were completed at three Kitchener residences, resulting in the seizure of one firearm and ammunition.

The three youths have been charged with various criminal offences, including robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault, and other firearm-related charges.

All three youths have been held in police custody for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a shooting after responding to a report of an injured male in Cambridge. 

On August 18, 2024, at approximately 3 a.m., police responded to a report of an injured male in the area of Water Street North and Dundas Street South.

Upon arrival, police located a 22-year-old male who was transported to hospital by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services with non-life-threatening injuries due to a gunshot wound.

There will be an increased police presence in the area of Water Street North and Dando Avenue for the retrieval of an involved vehicle from the Grand River.

Investigators believe this was a targeted incident.

The investigation is ongoing by Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Robbery Team.
