WRPS Arrest Three Males After a Home Invasion Shooting in Cambridge
Waterloo Regional Police have arrested three males in connection to a home invasion shooting that occurred in Cambridge Wednesday evening.
On July 24, 2024, at approximately 10 p.m., police responded to the area of Elgin Street North and Galt Avenue for a report of a home invasion.
Three males broke into a residence and an altercation occurred. As a result, a 24-year-old male was shot multiple times. Two other males were also injured during the incident. The suspects fled the residence on foot.
Upon police arrival, officers located the victims and administered first aid until Region of Waterloo paramedics arrived.
Two of the victims were transported to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
With the assistance of the canine unit, officers were able to locate three suspects hiding in a nearby shed. Members of the WRPS’ Emergency Response Team surrounded the shed and were able to arrest three males.
A loaded handgun was located inside the shed.
A 47-year-old male, a 24-year-old male, and a 16-year-old male, all from the Greater Toronto Area, have been charged with multiple criminal offences, including aggravated assault and robbery with a firearm. More charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.
All three suspects were held for a bail hearing.
It is believed the incident was targeted and there are no public safety concerns.
