Waterloo Regional Police Arrest Male After a Firearm Incident in Waterloo
Waterloo Regional Police arrested a Kitchener male for multiple weapon-related charges.
On June 1, 2024, at approximately 1 a.m., police responded to the area of University Avenue East and Weber Street North in Waterloo for reports of a male brandishing a firearm.
A group of males were walking in the area when an unknown male approached them and pointed a firearm at them. The male quickly left the area prior to police arrival.
There were no reports of any physical injuries reported.
Police located the male quickly near the location of the incident and placed him under arrest. Officers located the firearm and determined it was an air-soft handgun.
As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old male has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and pointing a firearm.
The male was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
