Police Arrest Cambridge Male for Impaired Driving after Colliding with Police Vehicle
Waterloo Regional Police have charged a male with impaired driving after a collision involving a police vehicle in North Dumfries.
On February 7, 2026, at approximately 7:25 p.m., an officer was conducting a traffic stop on Brantford Highway when their police vehicle was struck by a Ford pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene and was involved in a single motor vehicle collision a short distance away. Officers attended and arrested the driver.
As a result of the investigation, a 63-year-old Cambridge male was charged with:
• Impaired operation- alcohol and drug
• Failure or refusal to comply with demand
• Fail to remain
• Flight from police
• Dangerous operation
• Careless driving
• Fail to slow down and proceed with caution for emergency vehicle
There were no physical injuries reported.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and, if safe, move into another lane when approaching a stopped emergency vehicle or tow truck with flashing lights.
