Arrests Made After Attempted Theft of Automated Banking Machine in Waterloo
Waterloo Regional Police are investigating an attempted theft of an Automated Banking Machine (ABM) in Waterloo.
On February 21, 2026, four individuals damaged an ABM at a business located in the area of Erb Street West and Fischer Hallman Road. The suspects attempted to flee the area with the machine but were arrested a short time later by officers from North Division Neighbourhood Patrol.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Break, Enter, Auto Theft, and Robbery (BEAR) Team has taken carriage of the investigation. Police have recovered the ABM involved, along with two pieces of heavy equipment used in the incident.
A 32-year-old male from Stouffville, a 34-year-old male from Pickering, and a 16-year-old youth have been arrested and charged with Mischief over $5,000 and Theft over $5,000. The youth was additionally charged with two breaches of a court order.
All arrested individuals were held for a bail hearing. Investigators believe the involved parties may be connected to similar offences.
