Waterloo Regional Police Continue to Investigate Warmup Theft in Cambridge
UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:
Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have laid additional charges in an investigation into vehicle warm-up thefts in Cambridge.
On March 7, 2025, investigators completed a search warrant at a Cambridge residence in connection to vehicle warm-up thefts between February 4, 2025 and March 5, 2025.
A 16-year-old male was arrested for several offences, including:
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Possession of stolen property over $5,000
- Possession of stolen property under $5,000
- Disguise with intent
- Possession of an identity document
- Possession of a credit card
The youth was also arrested on three outstanding warrants for offences including robbery, theft of motor vehicle (two counts), fail to comply with sentence, and obstruct peace officer.
The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested one individual after responding to a report of a warm-up theft in Cambridge.
On February 4, 2025, at approximately 6:10 a.m., officers responded to the area of Taylor Avenue and Elliott Street for a report of a vehicle that was stolen while warming up.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., officers located the stolen vehicle in the area of King Street East and Waterloo Street. Officers arrested one of the occupants, while the second occupant fled the area on foot.
As a result of the investigation, a 16-year-old Cambridge youth was arrested and charged with:
- Fail to comply release
- Fail to comply with probation
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated.
