Police Charge Two Youth after Stolen Vehicle Investigation in Cambridge
Waterloo Regional Police have charged two youths after a stolen vehicle investigation in Cambridge.
On June 20, 2026, at approximately 5:10 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police received a report of a theft at a gas station on Jamieson Parkway. Two individuals attended the business wearing black balaclavas, stole property, and fled the area in a black Mercedes.
A short time later, at approximately 6:20 a.m., police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Glenview Avenue and McKay Street. Witnesses reported the vehicle performing donuts in a parking lot and being driven in a dangerous manner before leaving the roadway and striking a concrete median in a field. The masked driver and passenger then fled the area on foot, leaving behind the black Mercedes.
Through investigation, officers determined that the vehicle had been stolen from a driveway in the area of Anglerock Drive and Chamberlin Road Drive.
Shortly after 7:20 a.m., patrol officers from Waterloo Regional Police Service’s South Division located the driver and passenger in the area of Champlain Boulevard and Elgin Street South and placed them under arrest.
As a result of the investigation, a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old, both from Cambridge, have been charged with several offences, including:
- Motor Vehicle Theft
- Theft Under $5,000
- Disguise with Intent
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
The 12-year-old was further charged with Failure to Comply with a Release Order and the 14-year-old was also charged with Dangerous Operation.
Both accused were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
