Police Locate Stolen Toyota and Seize Sawed-Off Shot Gun & Drugs in Cambridge
Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Neighbourhood Policing South Division seized weapons, drugs, and arrested two individuals in relation to a stolen vehicle investigation in Cambridge.
On December 24, 2024, at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers were on proactive patrol on Hespeler Road and located an unoccupied stolen 2023 Toyota Tundra parked in a hotel parking lot. Through investigation, it was determined that the vehicle had been stolen from Toronto in a reprogramming theft. Shortly after, police observed two individuals approach the vehicle and placed them both under arrest.
Through the investigation, officers seized suspected fentanyl, hydromorphone and methamphetamine. A sawed-off shotgun, three edged weapons, ammunition, multiple cellphones and reprogrammable keys were also seized.
As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old male and a 36-year-old female, both from Thunder Bay, were arrested and charged with the following:
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon (four counts)
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (five counts)
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Utter forged document
- Possession of stolen property over $5,000
The male was also charged with:
- Possession of device for purpose of committing theft (two counts)
- Possession firearm or weapon, contrary to prohibition order
Both individuals were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
