WRPS Arrest Three in Connection to Hate-Motivated Assault in Kitchener
Waterloo Regional have arrested three youths in connection to an August 2024 hate-motivated incident in Kitchener.
On August 21, 2024, at approximately 7:25 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault in the area of Hazelglen Drive and Mooregate Crescent.
A male victim was leaving a business in the area when three male suspects approached him. The suspects began yelling profanities and racial comments at the victim. A physical altercation ensued, resulting in minor injuries to the victim.
As a result of the investigation, on October 7, 2024, WRPS’ General Investigations Unit arrested three youths.
A 16-year-old and a 15-year-old male have been charged with Assault and Mischief under $5,000. A third youth, a 16-year-old male, received a formal caution for his involvement in the incident.
