A paid duty officer is a police officer who is hired to provide a police presence for various functions and events. These officers are typically employed by private individuals or organizations and are paid for their services. The duties they perform can include:
- Traffic control for events, parades, construction sites or film shoots.
- Security services at sporting events, school events, concerts, banquets, and community gatherings.
- Escorts for wide or oversized loads, funerals or film shoots.
