Police Arrest Male after Firearms Stolen in Cambridge

UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:

Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Waterloo Regional Police have charged a third male in connection to an ongoing firearms investigation in Cambridge.

On October 20, 2024, police began an investigation into the theft of several firearms from a vehicle in the area of Main Street and Concession Street. 

Members of WRPS’ General Investigations Unit completed search warrants at two Cambridge residences and recovered the stolen firearms.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, on October 24, 2024, the owner of the firearms, a 29-year-old Cambridge male was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Careless Storage of Firearms
  • Contravention of Use, Storage, Handling of Firearms Regulation

The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ General Investigations Unit.

On October 21, 2024, a 31-year-old Cambridge male was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • Trafficking firearm
  • Trafficking ammunition
  • Possession of unauthorized firearm
  • Possession of unauthorized ammunition

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

Members of WRPS’ General Investigations Unit completed search warrants at two Cambridge residences and recovered the stolen firearms.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male after firearms were stolen from a vehicle in Cambridge. 

On October 20, 2024, police began an investigation into the theft of several firearms from a vehicle in the area of Main Street and Concession Street. 

As part of the ongoing investigation, Waterloo Regional Police’s General Investigations Unit, with assistance from the Drugs and Firearms Unit, arrested a male suspect on October 21, 2024, in the West Galt area of Cambridge.

The male, a 36-year-old from Cambridge, has been charged with Theft from Motor Vehicle, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000.

The accused is being held in police custody for a bail hearing.

The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ General Investigations Unit.
