Police Arrest Two Males after Attempted Theft in Woolwich Township
Waterloo Regional Police have arrested two males after an attempted theft at a Woolwich Township business.
On October 20, 2024, at approximately 9:20 p.m., officers on patrol in the area of Earl Martin Drive and Union Street were alerted to a parked vehicle with unattached plates by the automated license plate recognition system and observed two pedestrians walking away from the car.
Police then located a witness who advised that they believed a theft may have occurred at a nearby business.
The pedestrians returned to the vehicle, and officers determined they had been attempting to steal aluminum from outside a business.
As a result of the investigation, two males, a 27-year-old and a 25-year-old from the Greater Toronto Area, were arrested and charged with attempted theft. The 27-year-old was also charged with multiple provincial offences, including operating an unsafe motor vehicle, using a plate not authorized for a vehicle, and owner operating a motor vehicle on a highway with no insurance.
The accused parties were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
