Waterloo Regional Police Respond to Firearm Related Call at the Kitchener Market
Waterloo Regional Police responded to the Kitchener Market after receiving a weapon-related call.
On June 13, 2024, the caller indicated they intended to bring a gun to the area of the market and start shooting.
Through investigation, police determined the caller was from out of the country and that this was a swatting call.
There were no physical injuries as a result of this occurrence.
A near by high school was placed in a hold-and-secure while the investigation was ongoing as a safety precaution, but quickly lifted once the call was determined to be false.
WRPS’ General Investigations Unit is continuing the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519-570-9777.
