WRPS Investigating Fake Threats of Violence in Kitchener
Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a swatting call in Kitchener.
On June 13, 2024, at approximately 8 p.m., police responded to a business in the area of Fischer-Hallman Road and Ottawa Street South after receiving a call threatening to commit acts of violence towards members of the public and police.
Through investigation, officers determined that the call was a false report intended to initiate an emergency response.
There are no ongoing concerns for public safety.
Waterloo Regional Police would like to remind members of the public that making false reports to police is illegal and can result in criminal charges.
