Police Recover 18 Stolen Vehicles Following Cambridge Chop Shop Investigation
Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Break and Enter, Auto Theft, and Robbery (BEAR) Unit has charged two males after locating 18 stolen motor vehicles.
In March 2026, WRPS’ BEAR Unit began an investigation into an illicit vehicle salvage operation, commonly known as a chop shop, on Eagle Street in Cambridge.
On May 7, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation, BEAR Unit investigators executed search warrants at a building on Eagle Street in Cambridge as well as at a Kitchener residence.
In total, 18 stolen motor vehicles, many stripped for parts, were recovered.



As a result of the investigation, a 51-year-old male and a 19-year-old male, both from Kitchener, were arrested and charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000, Trafficking in Stolen Goods over $5,000, and Fraud – over $5,000.
The accused parties were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
