Police Make and Arrest and Recover Vehicle Stolen in Waterloo

Waterloo Regional Police have charged a male after a vehicle was stolen from the driveway of a residence in Waterloo.

On October 19, 2024, at approximately 9:20 p.m., police received a report that a GMC Terrain had been stolen from the driveway of a residence in the area of Margaret Avenue North and Bridgeport Road East.

Through investigation, officers determined that the vehicle had been stolen overnight after a male suspect stole a key fob from the residence’s garage.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m., North Division Patrol officers, with the assistance of in-vehicle technology, located the stolen GMC heading west on Lancaster Street West near Bridgeport Road East and were able to remotely slow it to safely conduct a traffic stop. Officers then arrested the driver for Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000.

Officers also seized suspected fentanyl and identity documents belonging to another person.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 37-year-old Kitchener male, was charged with:

  • Break and Enter – Commit Theft
  • Trespassing at Night
  • Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000
  • Possession of an Identity Document
  • Possession of a Credit Card
  • Drive while Under Suspension

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
