One Year Later: WRPS Investigators Renew Appeal for Information in Eli Wood Disappearance
Investigators with the Waterloo Regional Police Service are renewing their appeal for information one year after the disappearance of Eli Wood.
On October 19, 2025, at approximately 6 a.m., emergency services responded to a residential fire on Major Street. Firefighters arrived to find the rear unit of the home fully engulfed in flames. While the fire was extinguished, the property sustained significant damage. The incident remains under investigation as an arson.
Eli Wood, who was 25 at the time, lived in the rear unit and has not been seen since. Investigators continue to believe the disappearance is suspicious and that foul play is involved.
"I think someone does know something, and I think it is time that they spoke up," said Cindy Wood, Eli's mother. "None of us are going to give up. We just want Eli to come home."
Eli is described as approximately 4'10" tall, weighing between 85 and 95 pounds, with green eyes, partial white eyebrows and eyelashes, and patches of white hair. Distinctive tattoos include a flower and seahorse on the left forearm and a rainbow on the right upper arm.
"Our determination to find answers for Eli's family and loved ones remains as strong as ever," said Waterloo Regional Police Chief Mark Crowell. “We are asking anyone who knows something, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward and speak with investigators."
Anyone with information is asked to contact the WRPS’ Major Crime Unit at 519-570-9777 ext. 8191.
