Police are Investigating a Distraction Theft in Cambridge
Waterloo Regional Police Service is investigating a distraction theft that occurred in the City of Cambridge.
On October 21, 2025, at approximately 2:35 p.m., an elderly female and her husband were walking in the area of Green Vista Drive and Crawford Crescent when they were approached by a motorist operating a grey or silver four-door sedan.
While an elderly couple was walking in the area of Green Vista Drive and Crawford Crescent in Cambridge, a man driving a grey or silver four-door sedan asked the husband for directions.
While he was distracted, two female passengers approached the woman and offered to bless her as part of Diwali celebrations. They grabbed her hands and tried to put a necklace on her, but when she resisted, one of them forcibly removed her own necklace, causing minor injuries before fleeing in the vehicle.
The male driver is described as South Asian, mid-40s, larger build, with brown hair.
One of the female suspects is described as South Asian, mid-40s, larger build, wearing a head covering.
The second female suspect is described as South Asian, approximately 15 to 17 years old, slim build, wearing dark clothing.
