Police Arrest Male After Theft Incident in Waterloo

Waterloo Regional Police have charged a male with multiple criminal offences following a bike theft in Waterloo.

On July 22, 2025, at approximately 6 a.m., police responded to the University of Waterloo for a report of a theft investigation.

University of Waterloo Special Constables observed a male riding a bicycle on campus that had been reported stolen. Special Constables arrested the male and during the arrest located an inert grenade, prompting Waterloo Regional Police Service to respond.

Through investigation, it was determined that there were no public safety concerns.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old Cambridge male was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of stolen goods under $5,000 (two counts)
  • Possession of identity documents
  • Possession of break and enter tools
