Police Arrest Male after Vehicle Stolen in Cambridge

Officers from Waterloo Regional Police Service’s South Division have laid charges after a BMW was stolen in Cambridge.

On April 26, 2025, at approximately 12:05 a.m., officers received a report of a white BMW stolen from a driveway in the area of Meadowcreek Lane and Old Mill Road.

Police were able to locate the vehicle heading west on Highway 401 at a high rate of speed. Due to safety concerns, police did not initiate a pursuit.

The BMW was subsequently located in the area of Dickie Settlement Road and Whistle Bare Road, where police were able to stop the vehicle. The driver of the stolen BMW attempted to flee on foot through a construction site near the 401.

At approximately 2:10 a.m., officers located the driver lying in a ditch in the area of Whistle Bare Road and Highway 401 and placed him under arrest.

The driver, a 27-year-old male from Guelph, was charged with several offences, including:

  • Motor vehicle theft
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Dangerous operation
  • Operation of a conveyance while prohibited
  • Flight from police officer

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

The investigation remains ongoing.
