Police Arrest Male and Recover Loaded Firearm After Weapons Call in Kitchener
Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male and recovered a loaded firearm after responding to a weapons incident in Kitchener.
On May 24, 2026, at approximately 12:20 a.m., police responded to the area of King Street East and Cedar Street South for reports of a male brandishing a gun inside a nearby establishment.
Officers arrived and arrested the male, and during the arrest a loaded handgun and pellet gun were seized. No injuries were reported.
As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Hamilton male was arrested and charged with:
- Point firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless use of a firearm
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Carrying a concealed weapon (two counts)
- Firearm or weapon: possession contrary to prohibition order (two counts)
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
