Police Arrest Male Following Assault and Hate-Motivated Incident in Kitchener
Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male following an assault and hate-motivated incident in Kitchener.
On September 28, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., police responded to reports of an unwanted male at a business located in the area of Ottawa Street South and Alpine Road. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim who had sustained injuries after being assaulted inside a restaurant.
Through investigation, it was determined that the suspect assaulted the victim inside the restaurant and caused property damage to a vehicle in the parking lot. The male attended another restaurant, broke items, uttered threats toward staff, and forcibly confined them inside the business.
The suspect was arrested following a brief interaction with police.
The accused, a 39-year-old male from Kitchener, was charged with several offences, including:
- Assault
- Mischief Under $5,000 (two counts)
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm (three counts)
- Assault (additional count)
- Forcible Confinement
The incident is believed to be hate-motivated.
The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
