Police Arrest Male Following Social Media Threats
The Waterloo Regional Police Service has arrested and charged a Kitchener male after threats were made toward police officers on social media.
On January 27, 2026, officers became aware of two public posts on a social media platform in which an individual made threatening statements directed at members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service. The posts included a video and a photograph that showed the individual holding what appeared to be a firearm.
On February 1, 2026, members of WRPS’ Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at residence in the area of Lackner Boulevard and Ottawa Street North. A male was located inside and taken into custody without incident. Officers seized a replica firearm.
As a result of the investigation, a 31‑year‑old Kitchener male has been charged with Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm.
The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
