Police Arrest Male Following Weapons Related Incident in Wilmot
Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male after responding to a weapons related incident in Wilmot.
On March 9, 2026, at approximately 10:45 p.m., police responded to reports of a male armed with a weapon while breaking into vehicles in the area of Snyder’s Road East and Foundry Street.
Through the investigation, it was determined that a witness driving in the area at the time of the incident saw the male breaking into a vehicle. When they approached, the suspect advanced towards them while holding a chisel, prompting the witness to drive away.
Officers the located the suspect nearby and arrested him.
There were no physical injuries reported as a result of this incident.
As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old male was charged with:
• Theft under $5,000
• Assault with a weapon
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Trespass near dwelling
• Breach of probation
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
