Occurrence #: WA25199956

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a 16-year-old in connection to the theft of a motor vehicle from Woolwich Township.

On August 7, 2025, at approximately 4:30 a.m., a WRPS officer on patrol in the area of Barnswallow Drive and Whippoorwill Drive observed a grey Toyota Tundra travelling at a high rate of speed. Due to concerns for public safety, no pursuit was initiated.

Through investigation, the officer confirmed that the truck had just been stolen from a residence on Barnswallow Drive. This incident was subsequently linked to an attempted theft of another vehicle, a Toyota Sequoia, in the area of Nightingale Crescent around 3:10 a.m.

WRPS officers, in collaboration with members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), conducted a coordinated traffic stop of the stolen Toyota on Highway 401 eastbound, just west of Highway 6.

The driver, a 16-year-old from Quebec, was arrested without incident.

The youth is facing several charges, including:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Attempted Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000
  • Possession of Device for Vehicle Theft

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
