Police Arrest Youth after Vehicle Stolen in Woolwich Township
Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a 16-year-old in connection to the theft of a motor vehicle from Woolwich Township.
On August 7, 2025, at approximately 4:30 a.m., a WRPS officer on patrol in the area of Barnswallow Drive and Whippoorwill Drive observed a grey Toyota Tundra travelling at a high rate of speed. Due to concerns for public safety, no pursuit was initiated.
Through investigation, the officer confirmed that the truck had just been stolen from a residence on Barnswallow Drive. This incident was subsequently linked to an attempted theft of another vehicle, a Toyota Sequoia, in the area of Nightingale Crescent around 3:10 a.m.
A short time later, at approximately 4:55 a.m., South Division patrol officers observed the vehicle travelling south on Highway 8 and entering the eastbound lanes of Highway 401.
WRPS officers, in collaboration with members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), conducted a coordinated traffic stop of the stolen Toyota on Highway 401 eastbound, just west of Highway 6.
The driver, a 16-year-old from Quebec, was arrested without incident.
The youth is facing several charges, including:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Attempted Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000
- Possession of Device for Vehicle Theft
The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
