Police Arrest Youth in Connection to Robbery at Kitchener Plaza
UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:
Waterloo Regional Police have charged a youth in connection with a robbery in Kitchener.
On June 30, 2025, several unknown teenage males entered a container selling fireworks and stole merchandise. When confronted by a store employee, a disturbance occurred, and the employee was assaulted.
On July 1, 2025, members of WRPS’ General Investigations Unit arrested one youth in connection to the incident.
A 17-year-old male from Kitchener has been charged with attempted theft under $5,000.
The other subjects remain outstanding, and the investigation is ongoing.

On June 30, 2025, at approximately 7:05 p.m., police responded to a report of a disturbance in the parking lot of a plaza in the area of Ottawa Street South and Fischer-Hillman Road.
Through investigation, officers learned that several unknown teenage males entered a container selling fireworks and stole merchandise. When confronted by a store employee, a disturbance occurred and the employee was assaulted.
The suspects were last seen fleeing the parking lot in a vehicle.
No physical injuries were reported.
The investigation remains ongoing.
