Police Charge Driver After Responding to Cyclist Collision in Waterloo

Police have charged the driver of a vehicle following a cyclist collision in Waterloo.

On May 4, 2026, at approximately 3:55 p.m., emergency services responded to reports of a collision on Steeplechase Way at Woolwich Street. The collision involved a Hyundai vehicle and two cyclists.

A 59-year-old female cyclist was transported to an out of region hospital with serious injuries. A 61-year-old male cyclist was not injured.

The driver of the Hyundai, 33-year-old Waterloo female was not injured. 

As a result of the investigation, the driver was charged with Careless Drive Causing Bodily Harm.

The intersection was temporarily closed for the investigation and has since reopened.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has video footage is asked to contact the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Traffic Services Unit at 519‑570‑9777, extension 8856.
